BACKGROUND, GOALS & FUNCTION

Helium Health rapidly digitizes healthcare facilities such as hospitals and clinics with our cutting-edge Electronic Medical Records/Hospital Management Information System (EMR/HMIS) product. Our technology suite extends beyond, enabling telemedicine, financing for providers, streamlined claims processing for payers, empowered patients, and insightful epidemiological data for partners. This collective effort translates into elevated care quality.

Emerging as West Africa's premier healthcare technology provider, Helium Health facilitates hundreds of thousands of medical interactions monthly, forming a connected healthcare ecosystem. Our vision strives to simplify healthcare access across Africa, empowering patients with timely care. With a commitment to data-driven decisions and global health transformation, Helium Health seeks to make world-class healthcare accessible to emerging markets' 6 billion individuals.

As a Senior Product Designer within our product development team, I've played a pivotal role in steering design efforts for Helium's flagship product, Helium OS. This platform catalyzed our expansion into the Middle East, while also driving substantial growth within existing markets such as Nigeria and East African countries. My contributions have been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of Helium Health's impactful journey.

ENABLING PATIENT DATA PROTECTION & AUTHORIZATION

n the pursuit of fostering seamless interoperability within Helium's array of products, a pivotal challenge arose: facilitating the secure transfer of data across multiple products and organizations. Central to this endeavor was safeguarding user and patient data, necessitating a design approach that prioritized patient consent and data protection.

To realize this goal, a two-fold stakeholder engagement was essential:

Health Facilities: These entities house patient data and play a crucial role. The design had to ensure the smooth extraction and transfer of relevant data, respecting the privacy and confidentiality of patient information.

Patients: Empowering patients to authorize the use of their data across Helium's product spectrum was paramount. A user-centric approach was employed, placing the patient at the core of data utilization decisions.

By orchestrating a streamlined process that addressed the concerns of both stakeholders, we crafted a robust system that enabled data transfer while adhering to the highest standards of data security and patient privacy. This design not only facilitated interoperability but also upheld Helium Health's commitment to ethical data practices and patient well-being.

MANAGING EMPLOYEES OF AN HEALTH FACILITIES

The monumental impact of healthcare professionals can sometimes overshadow the fact that they are essential components of an organization. Embracing the mission of comprehensive digitalization within healthcare entities, Helium Health has taken the stride to integrate an HRIS system within HeliumEMR. This holistic approach manages every facet of employee administration, encompassing diverse roles like doctors, nurses, domestic workers, and other healthcare professionals.

From the seamless onboarding of new employees to efficient management of leave, payroll, availability, and check-ins, our design embeds a robust HRIS system directly within the EMR. This strategic amalgamation dispels the complexity of juggling multiple software solutions for healthcare facility management.

The outcome of this design endeavor is a unified interface that streamlines the administration of healthcare professionals, aligning with Helium Health's commitment to facilitating operational excellence and elevating healthcare service delivery.

ENSURING PATIENT SAFETY

The integration of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) into healthcare systems carries a pivotal objective: enhancing patient care quality. To fortify healthcare professionals' ability to deliver optimal care, we've innovated a system that proactively alerts them to potential interactions among diagnoses, prescribed medications, and patient allergies. This cutting-edge feature aims to empower healthcare providers with essential insights, augmenting their decision-making prowess during patient consultations. By preemptively identifying potential complications and guiding treatment choices, this solution amplifies patient safety measures, ultimately reflecting our commitment to elevating healthcare standards and ensuring the well-being of individuals under medical care.
